Be Swept Up By The Last Letter from Your Lover

Of all the books we read in 2020, The Last Letter from Your Lover by Jojo Moyes was our favorite. What’s weird is that we’re not really drawn to romance novels. And yet, a romance ends up being one of our top reads. Go figure.

Now we aim to put more love stories, especially ones by Jojo Moyes, on our list to read for 2021!

“Crafting a love story that feels not just compelling but true is a very difficult thing indeed—and yet, with The Last Letter from Your Lover, Jojo Moyes has done it twice. I found myself utterly transfixed by both sets of lovers in this marvelous novel. Moyes is a tremendously gifted storyteller, and I’m all admiration.”

Two Love Stories In One

In The Last Letter From Your Lover, Jojo Moyes seamlessly weaves the tales of two love stories. Separated by forty years, the letters written by one of the lovers to another connect the stories.

In the 1960s, Jennifer Sterling seems to have it all, a wealthy husband, a beautiful home, and a secure lifestyle. But does she love her husband? What about her life? These questions are unknown because she’s lost her memory in an accident that starts the story. That is until she finds a passionate letter written to her by someone other than her husband that strikes a chord deep within her.

Forty-three years later, journalist Ellie Haworth finds Jennifer Sterling’s mysterious letter and becomes obsessed with what happened.

The Last Letter from Your Lover

We never like to write too many details about a story when reviewing it because we hate ruining surprises. Just get the book and read it. You won’t be sorry.

Coming to Netflix in 2021

It’s no shock this story will be released as a movie in 2021. It will star Shailene Woodley, Callum Turner, Joe Alwyn, and Felicity Jones. As a result, we cannot wait to see it.

However, as with most terrific novels that move to the screen, we are glad to have read this before. That said, we hope you will as well.

The Last Letter from Your Lover Synopsis:

It is 1960. When Jennifer Stirling wakes up in the hospital, she can remember nothing-not the tragic car accident that put her there, not her husband, not even who she is. She feels like a stranger in her own life until she stumbles upon an impassioned letter, signed simply “B,” asking her to leave her husband.

Years later, in 2003, Ellie, a journalist, discovers the same enigmatic letter in a forgotten file in her newspaper’s archives. She becomes obsessed with the story and hopeful that it can resurrect her faltering career. Perhaps if these lovers had a happy ending, she would find one to her own complicated love life, too. Ellie’s search will rewrite history and help her see the truth about her own modern romance.
