We’ve been iPhone users for more than a decade. Still, the idea of the Apple Watch Serie 6 didn’t interest us. That is until the Covid19 pandemic hit, and everything changed.
No longer were gyms or yoga studios open to keep us active. And after a year without, we decided to see if an Apple Watch could help motivate us to exercise independently at home or the park. Also, we hoped it could provide access to health vitals and other connectivity.
It turns out it can, and now we’re obsessed!

As mentioned, we chose to review the Apple Watch Series 6 to see if the health features would be beneficial. And boy are they! Some of our favorites are;
When this is turned on, if you fall and don’t respond to a notification, the app will call for help.
This feature will remind you to take several deep breaths to calm and relax you over the day. It may sound silly. But this little reminder goes a long way in helping de-stress a hectic day.
This app tracks when you go to bed and wake up and how many times you stir during the night. Also, it connects to other sleep apps you can download on your iPhone that will gather even more detail, such as snoring and deep sleep. Sleep is a vital part of wellness that people often overlook, so this feature is essential when reviewing your overall health.
Our favorite in the health features is Activity Tracking. As mentioned above, this is what drew us to the watch in the first place. Not only is this feature a great way to see your activity for the day, but it’s also a terrific motivator to keep you moving if you haven’t met your goals.
If you are anything like us, the app will become a daily challenge you’ll want to beat every day, like a game.
Whatever keeps us active, right?
Other health options on the watch are; The Abnormal heart rhythm monitor and the AFib feature, which can detect unusual heart conditions and alert you to consult a medical provider when something is off. Also, you can track your period with the Menstrual cycle app. And the Noise app will ping you when noises are above 90 decibels to prevent hearing loss.
Initially, the idea to review the Apple Watch Series 6 had nothing to do with appearances. But next on our list of likes is just that. Not only are there quite a few Apple Watch face options, but there are also adjustments that can change the look of the faces with a multitude of color options. So whatever your taste, there’s bound to be a face to your liking.
We like the Photos face, which pulls images from a select group on your iPhone and rotates them each time you lift your wrist to view the watch. The Memoji option allows you to create a face that looks like yours or anything your heart desires.
It also has a handful of characters installed. The Memoji face is interactive, so it moves about and is a fun option if you get bored of a static front.
The one we like best is the Activity Analog as it shows us our activity progress and keeps us motivated to keep moving throughout the day.
Again, we decided to purchase and review the Apple Watch Series 6 for the health features, so we didn’t expect to appreciate this call attribute as much as we do. But it’s handy to see calls and texts at a glance.
Now, after a busy day, we never look at our phones and realize we missed a call or text from hours before.
It’s the little things, right?
The ability to easily swap watch bands is a fantastic option, especially for us who enjoy change. And there are all kinds of bands out there to choose from, not only through Apple, but Etsy has a vast selection, as does Amazon. Some are on the more expensive side. Some are not.

We have purchased some of the Velcro and Silicone sport bands through Amazon. They are fantastic and come at a fraction of the cost found at other places.
As a side note to changing out bands frequently for a varied look, swapping bands is a perfect opportunity to clean the sensor on the back of the watch, which can get quite grimy if you’re active.
So far, there isn’t a whole lot we don’t like about the watch. It’s helpful in ways we had no idea would be beneficial before having it. But here are just a couple of areas we wish could be improved.

Some of the numbers and letters are too small, even when set at the highest level possible. We can’t read the watch without our glasses on as it is. But even with eyeglasses on, it’s challenging to read the screen. Technology is advanced enough that enlarging shouldn’t be that difficult, especially when it comes to providing easier viewing for all eyesight levels.
While the battery charge lasts about a day, it would be nice if it were longer. We know having to charge up every day isn’t the worst thing, but we’re putting it on our wish list for the next Apple Watch generation.
The items we’ve reviewed in this feature are only a fraction of the watch’s capabilities. But there isn’t much we don’t like about the Apple Watch Series 6, at least not right now after a few months of use. If things change, we will update this post.
As of now, we think it’s worth a purchase if you want a bit of motivation in the activity arena and access to health vitals, as well as enhanced connectivity to your phone when you’re not with your phone.
All in all, we think this Apple Watch is a gem.
